Exploring Ambition

Exploring Ambition

Mathew Gumina | Lost Bills, Bunbury

Colour // Crafty Pink

Keep your eyes open and find those subtle opportunities for you to express your creativity. There will always be a way to make your ideas come alive from your current situations, and create something amazing from them. Mat, the general manager of Lost Bills Bar, is one.

Mat had always been a creative mind who saw the world a bit differently, and there was nothing he wanted more in life than to start his own business and turn his ideas into a reality. He took a number of different jobs until he landed a position as a sales rep for an alcoholic beverage company. This turned out to be the perfect way to learn about the alcohol business, which opened the doors to start his own bar and bring his ambitions to life.

From the moment you walk into the Lost Bills, you can feel the adventurous spirit that radiates in the air. Everything there is crafted with a certain passion and detail. Even if you can’t quite put into words what gives you this feeling at the moment, your brain simply knows that there’s something special there.

Unique and innovative styles were used to design a bar-going experience that felt special to the patrons. One example is the use of the colour pink in a section of the bar. While this colour is colloquially seen as feminine, Mat points out that pink represented masculinity for most of history. This lost history is utilised to give the space a vibrant energy that challenges the way you view the world.

The Lost Bills believes in supporting local business by promoting restaurants nearby.

There’s something exciting and liberating about being able to get food ordered and delivered directly to the bar. But this isn’t just a perk for the customers, it’s a way to encourage people to go out and support local businesses as well – a net positive for everyone involved.

It was determination and passion that let Matt turn a humble positon at an alcoholic beverage company into a pioneering business that brought his ideas to life. His creative spark made his dream come to life in the most unlikely places.

Stay inspired, keep an open mind, and you might even surprise yourself with how far you can go.
