Moment of Clarity

Colour // Blueprint White

His dormant passion had awakened, relentlessly knocking on the doors of his consciousness.

“I know you have plans for me, but I cannot pursue law.”

Alejandro, the eldest son in his family has his path well-laid, marked by the five-year journey to join his father’s law firm.

On the verge of graduation, the final year before the momentous finish line, a veil of uncertainty descended.

Alejandro was grappled with doubt.

To graduate as a lawyer or to embrace his newfound passion.

“As I was studying in my room, I looked out at my window. The world outside began to metamorphose. Inexplicably, the hillsides were adorned with miniature houses, unfurling before my eyes, a vision that transcended the confines of reality.

At first, I paid no attention to it, but my dreams started filling with architectural marvels.

A different calling that beckoned with irresistible allure. A blueprint of my direction that I could no longer ignore.”

Alejandro immersed himself in architectural documentaries, concealing his newfound passion.

His dormant passion had awakened, relentlessly knocking on the doors of his consciousness.

“I had a moment of clarity.

Inevitably, the day came and I had to approach my parents with a heavy heart, “I know your plans for me, but I cannot pursue law. I want to be an architect.”

His parent’s initial reaction was one of disappointment, particularly from his father, who had expected me to join his law firm. He dismissed it as a passing phase, believing he merely sought respite from academic rigours. Yet, his resolve was unwavering.

“I embarked on a new journey of architecture, enrolling in an Argentine institution, where a Bachelor’s degree in architecture takes an additional 5 years to complete. My father reluctantly supported me. It wasn’t until he witnessed my unbridled joy in my new pursuit, that his doubts ebbed away.”

As the years passed, Alejandro found himself in Vienna, pursuing a Master’s degree at the prestigious University of Applied Arts which was handpicked with only a mere 10 students from across the globe was selected.

His path veered dramatically, and he now calls Vienna home for four years, balancing intensive studies with practical experience.

Vienna, with its architectural pedigree, guided him towards a deeper, more research-driven approach to the field, evolving from a mere technician to an artist in his craft.

Inspired by architectural firms in London, He recognised the need to broaden his knowledge and skills, prompting him to halt his professional career and dive headlong into my Master’s program.

While in Amsterdam, He honed his practical skills, but eventually, the desire to undertake a thesis led him back to Vienna.

Beginning 2023, he is poised to begin a new chapter in an exceptional firm with a Pritzker Prize laureate, an architectural equivalent to the Nobel Prize.

He is inspired by Zaha Hadid, who focuses on the organic language of architecture, It allows integration of complex forms into a fluid and seamless whole.

To attain success in large firms, He must be prepared to take on monumental challenges. It’s not just about sketching and drawing; it’s about delving deep into site analysis, urban context, and the architectural fabric.

The dedication required can mean long hours, but it’s a labour of love, driven by the passion that architects hold for their craft.

Talent is just a foundation,  it’s the transformation of that talent into honed skills that truly defines an architect. It’s a relentless journey of learning, encompassing software proficiency, drafting, and the mastery of one’s craft.

“Architecture is a reflection of my identity, a calling, and a path that is truly meant for me.

I remain profoundly grateful for the support I’ve received along the way, especially from my father, who ultimately accepted my choice as he saw the happiness it brought me.”

In the world of architecture, we are not merely building structures; we are crafting experiences, and in that, we find our truest purpose.
