Flipping Boredom

Colour // Why Not Pink
WHAT PROBLEMS DOES PRETZEL AUSTRALIA SOLVE?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

“We don’t solve problems, we just provide happy times”

Brittany Garbutt founded the bold and fully pinked-out Pretzel Australia and confidently steered its expansion to over 11 outlets and counting.

She just wanted to lighten up the snack food industry and give people a reason to smile, feeling like a kid again and have fun.

Passionate about business branding in her previous role, Brittany was only limited by her clients.

They were too afraid, too conservative and too safe.

Being unafraid of phenomenally failing, she pursued creativity without limits in her own mental playground. Focusing on fun rather than just going for profit or changing the world.

“You want something, be prepared to be unhappy and happiness will follow”, said Brittany.

Planning is important, but it can be detrimental and very discouraging if you’re not flexible enough to just roll with change. Don’t get pinned down by your long-term goal.

It was a mental warfare running her first outlet in Northbridge, Perth.

She hated her job much of the time, especially starting at 3am on a Saturday.

Flipping Pretzels and managing the business is emotionally draining and frustratingly challenging. However, the occasional surge of joy and enthusiasm was all she required to keep going and to make it wholly rewarding.

“Luck is from hard work.
Hard work brings you luck!”

She also acknowledged her battle with mental health and had the sense to recognize when it was the right time to seek professional help.

Brittany finds solace in the graceful craft of pottery, immersing herself wholly in the multifaceted experience.

Manipulating clay provides a welcome distraction, keeping her hands and mind occupied, separated from the temptation of her phone.

“What goes. up, must come down”

Her favourite quote, shared by her mum.

You start up great but it will come down one day. You need to have a bad moment to have a good one. It’s up and down, you shouldn’t be afraid of either direction.

She strongly believes in

“Helping yourself to help yourself”.
