Conduct Your Feelings

KAMYAB SADEGHI | Musician & Conductor, Vienna

Colour // Symphony Blue
“The melody should soar like the wind, flow like a river, and stir emotions that are nothing short of epic”.

In the heart of Vienna, where the very air hums with the echoes of timeless symphonies, Kamyab finds his place amidst a sea of extraordinary talent.

His tale begins in Tehran, where the strains of Persian music whispered secrets to his soul.

The Persian tar served as the vessel for his emotions, allowing him to express himself through music. But destiny had its own composition in mind.

After mastering the tar at Tehran’s prestigious music school, his heart and ambition were set on Vienna—a city steeped in the rich history of classical music.

He wasn’t leaving Persian music behind; instead, he embarked on a new adventure in classical orchestra conducting.

In Vienna’s warm embrace, he melded the soulful melodies of Persia with the grandeur of classical music, creating a distinctive symphony that transcended boundaries, incorporating elements of jazz, pop, and the profound essence of Persian harmonies.

Creating his own band was the natural next step, where his compositions poured forth from the depths of his heart.

But, Kamyab’s journey was no mere walk in the park.

As a young musician, he refuses to rely on his father’s financial support and is determined to carve his own path, no matter how challenging it may be.

He stood firm, fuelled by an unwavering motivation to pursue his passion against all odds.

During the pandemic amidst chaos and stress, he found a way to let go and let ideas flow freely. His soul found solace in composing, birthing melodies that resonated deeply with his audience.

To master his craft, he delved deep into the intricacies of classical music, exploring its style, form, and tempo. But it was not just about knowledge; it was about infusing his own emotions into every performance.

The conductor’s role isn’t just to lead; they communicate feelings to the orchestra.

With every movement and every gesture, Kamyab conveyed his desires to the musicians.

Conducting is akin to shaping music like a sculptor shaping clay with his hands, his heart, and his emotions, molding an emotional symphony with every musician, making them feel every note, every beat, every crescendo in their soul.

As he continues to compose, conduct, and dream, he aspires to craft a Persian symphony, pushing boundaries and shattering preconceived notions about fusing Persian music.

Kamyab’s story reminds us that music is more than just sound; it’s the embodiment of human emotion and the unbreakable spirit of pursuing one’s dreams.
