Thriving Orgasm

Colour // Vulva Violet

“Lea, you haven’t even had sex yet. Don’t pretend to be an expert!”

That was in 1999 when Lea’s best friend had just shared with her that she was planning to have sex for the first time. And Lea had shared advice.

Lea Holzfurtner is now a professional sex coach based in Berlin, Germany and an author of (The Ultimate Guide to Female Orgasm- A Workbook With Everything You Need to Know + Exercises to Get Started) designed to help vulva owners to overcome orgasm and libido hurdles.

With passion and desire,
Lea explores pleasure’s rhythm,
and the symphony of lust.

At a young age, and long before she started to engage in partnered sex, Lea curiously explored the field of sexology. She began to learn about human sexuality and to share her insights with friends.

By the age of 19, she was eager to inspire other vulva owners and to provide them with all the information they needed in order to enjoy pleasure. But she felt not ready for this task.

And Lea knew that to be taken seriously, she needed to become an expert. In her opinion, 19 year old women from small towns in Bavaria couldn’t just become that.

Being an expert required years of research and experience, accreditations, insights and wisdom.

How do you picture an expert? The patriarchy was breathing through Lea and she believed our society to picture an older male, with grey hair and wrinkles.

At the same time, she was determined to break through barriers and prove that age and gender are not limitations to success.

With unwavering determination, she pursued an MBA and worked in the research sector in Dublin, London, Munich and Berlin for over 10 years, most recently as a Director for a MarTech gaining invaluable skills. She also earned a Bachelor degree in psychology, got certified as a sex coach, mediator and NLP Practitioner.

During her first internship in the field of sexology, Lea had the opportunity to work with a sex therapist who specialised in sex and porn addiction.

She gained insight into the therapeutic journey of healing individuals from pain and struggle, but she also learned that an essential part was often overlooked:

The Thriving Part. Pleasure.

“I wanted to help women empower themselves, to help them experience the amazing benefits of orgasm and pleasure, and to have the sex life they dream of,” Lea says.

“That’s why I have chosen sex coaching over sex therapy.”

Once her psychology degree was earned, Lea knew it was time to push her boundaries and pursue her own dreams. It was time to be an expert, and it was time to leave the safety net of her corporate career behind her and become self-employed.

To her, this was (and sometimes still is) a very scary thought!

Giving up her safety net was a significant sacrifice, and there were times when she struggled with this uncertainty.

However, Lea trusted the universe would nudge her in the right direction and towards the right people and learnings if she’d put her full attention and her absolut best effort into her goal.

Now in her private practice, Lea works talk-based with her clients. Many of them struggle with feelings of guilt and shame when it comes to their own sexuality.

Mental reframing, the normalisation of fantasies and desires, the sharing of missing knowledge about human sexuality, anatomy and pleasure are what drives her clients’ growth.

Lea’s ultimate goal is to create an environment where her clients can unburden without fear or shame. She wants to provide a sanctuary where all voices can be heard, and no question goes unanswered.

As a bisexual, Lea was able to gain insights that allowed her to bridge the gap between what society determines as the “male” and “female” perspective on dating and sex.

She feels incredibly lucky for having been able to experience both sides and she believed this has helped her break down barriers and dispel myths – and this is a huge advantage to the couples and polycules of all genders that utilise her sex coaching services.

When it comes to improving your sex life, true connection is vital and goes beyond physical intimacy, according to Lea.

“It’s not just about touch, but about having a genuine, authentic conversation with your partner. It’s about opening up to each other in a safe and honest space.” By doing so, individuals can discover a depth of intimacy they had never thought possible.

Throughout her journey of becoming a clinical sexologist, what helped Lea the most was finding her tribe.

Her connection with individuals who share her beliefs, passion, and enthusiasm allowed her to be herself, embrace challenges, and thrive in a supportive space. Finding her tribe helped her achieve her goals, and allowed her and her tribe to celebrate each other’s successes.

“I am proud to say that I have earned enough wrinkles and grey hair now.

I have become an expert on solving sexual problems.”
